Content: OCT.20,1970 23 year old CAROL ANN FITZMAURICE,residing at the corner of CHAPIN & FIVE MILE ROADS,was found stabbed to death on her living room floor.Her husband,DANIEL,upon his arrival from work,made the gruesome discovery.She had been stabbed 14 times in the abdomen and neck and death was attributed to a severed aorta.The State Police were called and a detail was comprised of the troopers, who responded to the scene. She was last scene alive at about 1PM. An uncooked chicken was in the oven, which indicated the victim was killed prior to supper,[duh] A family friend across the street tending horses in a barn from 4:20 to 5:30PM siad he heard nothing out of the ordinary.OCT.21 troopers searching the five-mile-creek found a foot long knife in the water and they felt this was the murder weapon.Although every lead was followed and several suspects were developed,no arrest was ever made.It is possible with new forensic advancements,evidence could once again be reviewed and the perp. could be brought to justice.
